The emergency room. Mostly the armpit of American social life. You have dozens of people sitting around discussing what’s wrong with them with each other, older men hitting on younger women, and the occasional screaming child. This is the one place in society where an old man with chest pains can have a descent conversation with a bloody nosed gang member. Where a Nascar fan who fell off a van can easily have a conversation with a Korean mom who’s child has a temperature of 101.
Where everyone thinks the security guard is high on power for just yelling at a little boy for having his feet on an extremely ugly end table.
This is where I spent my Sunday night. All 6 hours of it. I’ve been having some trouble moving around, particularly when it comes to stand up or basic walking. Lol. I braved the ER again because my general Dr is a quack and I need to work on that. Finally I pull an ER doc who knows what I’m talking about, I do get help, but looking back at all the people in that Emergency Room that night. It just startles me that we never see the good in an emergency room. The one place people don’t fight with each other instead they show COMPASSION for one another. Even manners. A man standing up so a little old lady can have the end seat. A obviously drunk country boy helping a Latino carry his friend to a wheelchair. It was very eye opening.
