Another Day in Haunted Paradise

Day to day life can be hectic, figuring out the grocery list, trying to make a To Do list for the weekend where you know stuff won't get accomplished, gathering notes for a fiction story I haven't updated in weeks. It can all get overwhelming until I come to the point where I just break off completely and stay in bed for 48 hour straight. Not that I ever do that, I usually have the INTENTION of sleeping that long because in all honestly I sleep maybe 3-4 hours a night and probably need that long in bed, however I can't do it.

There is always something I need to do, or somewhere I need to go. A party, make a cake for someone else, figure out what I need to buy, something always crops up. So this weekend I have scheduled ME time. Me in my bed most of Saturday. I will get up though because I have to set the house up for Halloween. I LOVE Halloween. I haven't decided what costume I will be, but I am uber-excited about the prospect of trick or treaters. I haven't had trick or treaters in years, at the old house there was never many kids that went trick or treating so I never had any. But in Charlotte there are a ton of kids and I live right beside an elementary school so I can definitely get my Scare on!

I have mummies and spider decorated men, I have ghostly ladies who will hover over a bed in my downstairs living room with strobe lights and fog, how awesome can we get right? Well, I can definitely party with the big boys.

Anyway, I am rereading a Lori Foster book I picked up at the local Goodwill called Impetuous. I forgot how much I like this book! It's about a girl named Carlie who is a very dedicated teacher who is crushing really hard on her best friend's brother-in-law Tyler. Tyler is a businessman who is bored to tears with the women he usually dates, he's a player after all and goes for the tall, blond and dumb type. Anyway they both get invited to a Halloween party (Yay, Halloween!) and Carlie's friend dresses her up as a Harem girl. (I should be a Harem girl!) Well, Tyler has never noticed Carlie before because she typically dresses in huge clothes that make her look fat and hide her shape, but when she steps out in a mask dressed as a Harem girl, he takes notice. Anyway they wind up having a little...tryst? in the pool house but he has no clue it's Carlie as she wouldn't remove her mask (Honestly does that really work?!) Anyway, by devious design her friend gets them locked into an agreement to teach a children's basketball team together (it's a charity thing) and they wind of course falling in love (duh, I read ROMANCE novels!). Anyway it's a very cute story about not judging a book by it's cover and acceptance. And loving oneself which is ultimately what you should do. No matter what you think you look like, what you think about yourself you can't experience love someone else completely until you can love yourself.

 It bugged me this morning when I couldn't locate the information for the book I purchased at the Goodwill. I mentioned it in my Aphrodisiacs Everywhere! post. I began searching and FINALLY found it on the very last page of 1000 pages at Barns & Noble. Here is the information that they have listed for the book as well as a photo! I did enjoy the book, it was very educational and did bring back some great memories. (Well, not of lovers, but when you read through the Movies and Music sections you will completely understand. Jane Tara's Forecast: A Review

I just finished Jane Tara's Forecast and I must say that I did enjoy it! It had some very humorous moments that made me laugh a little out loud and definitely kept me smiling.

Forecast shows us the intricacies of the weatherman business. When a popular weatherman, Drew Henderson, injures himself, there is a quick scramble to find a replacement until he is back on his feet. A producer stumbles upon Rowie Shakespeare (yes, kin to THAT Shakespeare) who happens to be psychic and can predict the weather. Rowie also has a slew of other talents that also include knowing a mans life once she kisses him. Only thing is Rowie can't see Drew's future. They quickly fall in love with each other only to wind up in one misunderstanding after another. There is also several offset romances, including Rowie's mom and grandmother, her best friends, and even her dead grandfather. Nothing is taboo in this book, and the world of Rowie is open for all. It's a pretty magical book. I do recommend for a quick read.

I picked this book up at the Dollar Tree (it was all of $1) so it's a pretty good deal for a novel that is better then some I've paid eight bucks for.

Anyway, if you run across this book (or buy it off of Amazon for .01) you won't be disappointed.

What's a Ghoul to Do? Quick Review

The quote of the day("Welcome to the gay man's one night stand!) made me smile when when I read the line in the book What's a Ghoul to Do? by Victoria Laurie, interesting book as well.

Quick review: Pretty much about a heroine who is a medium and can speak with the dead, she has a business where she is a ghost buster. The heroine, whose name is M.J and her gay business partner Giley take on a client whose grandfather is haunting his house where he supposedly committed suicide. Dr. Delicious (as they call him) is from Germany and there's a lot of skeletons in his family closet.

It was an interesting book, can't say it was one of the best I've read but it was a break from the Vampire mania that most novelists seem intent upon. (I'm not bashing the Vampires, trust me gimme a Katie Macalister or a Maryjanice Davidson any day!)

One thing I did notice was that although the story was pretty good, we never got much in the order of character developement for Dr. Delicioius other than that he was a hot dude with an awesome accent who butchers American slang. I wish we could have gotten a better feel for him in this book.

I did like M.J. she's a determined Heroine. Giley was a cool character as well.

The cover to the book is cute, however has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story, she doesn't dress like that at all. She dresses pretty normal in jeans and stuff.
