I'm Gonna Pop some...Pages? Autographed Book Haul

Hello! I went to a Value Village down the road from me (I have to come up with a 20's flapper girl outfit and what better place than a thrift store?) And of course I checked out the books. I found 5 signed ones and two I'm sooo stoked about.

First is WOLFGANG PUCK! Adventures in the Kitchen has a signed bookplate, no inscription. I paid $1.61 for it. So happy to add this to my collection!

Next is Kathy Reichs (that's right, the creator and author of the Bones novels). A copy of her YA Sci-Fi series Virals. Signed and inscribed to Taylor. I paid .75 for this one.

Next is an interesting one. Hero by Derwin L. Gray. He was an NFL linebacker with Indianapolis Colts and ended is career with the Carolina Panthers (probably why it was there, me living in Charlotte and all) Signed and inscribed to Mark. Gray is now a pastor. Paid .75 for it.

I found Robert H. Schuller's My Journey. Schuller is the host of the Hour of Power (Christian programming), this book is BEAUTIFUL without the dust jacket. Paid $1.61 for it. Signed with a beautiful inscription just not to a particular person. Signed on a giant sticky note type bookplate.

Last, but not least, I did find a copy of The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. Signed and inscribed to Debbie. Paid .75 for it. I don't know anything about this author.

I always check out the books wherever I am, you never know what you'll find. Whether it's an awesome read or a signed book. I've found many over the past few months, some I'm in love with!

Value Village Finds

Yesterday I brought you the items I found at the Goodwill, but today I'm going to share what I found at the Value Village on the same day!


1. A swim suit for Lexie. It looked brand new, and it was a full piece with legs and arms. More like a swimming jumper, so she won't get burned so easily. I paid about $3.00 for it.
2. NC Tarheels wrapping paper. I paid .79 for it! I have a few projects in mind so it will definitely come in handy.
3. A baby play mat for Cadence! It was practically brand new, it was just missing the little pillow
thing that would have went missing to begin with.
4. A shaker weight and a brand new box dvd set of Jillian Michaels and the Biggest Loser weight loss exercises. I paid $3 for the shaker weight and $0.20 for the DVD set! Awesome!
5. Small bag of stuffed animals which included a Bullseye horse for Tristan! I paid $0.80 for the bag and divided it up between the kids. The Bullseye was in great condition, and the kids loved the other toys in the bag.

7. Handfull of books for the kids! I got Eli three books from the Butt Ugly Martians (1-3) I paid $1.25 for each of those, I got Tristan an Arthur compilation book. It was $0.40, for Lexie I found a Reader 1 book with Disney stories in it as she is struggling with reading but this is super easy so I'm hoping it helps her, paid $1.31. And I got a Greatest Moments sports book that came with a CD. It looked brand new and the CD was intact. I paid $0.80 for that.
8. A dress for Lexie at $1.25, a pair of shoes for Reagan, and a pair of Heelys that looked BRAND NEW. I paid $5. A pair of swim trunks for Tim, and a tiny little pair of shoes I paid $1 for Cadence.

Goodwill Finds

Everyone knows I love a good shopping spree at a second hand store. The Goodwill Outlet used to be my favorite, they were right down the road, it was huge and filled to the brim with bins to dig through. They recently moved to a more upscale location and the store is a quarter the size it used to be, but that's ok. I still found some excellent deals. I spent a total of $46. I was after a couple of things before I stepped in there and found a few extras. (I'll upload photos later tomorrow).

1. Bowling ball, bag and shoes for $3. Yes. $3 for all three! It's definitely a man's set, the shoes looked hardly worn and it was definitely worth it with the free bowling passes we've been using this summer. I did upgrade to the "Family Pack" (you can see more about the FREE BOWLING FOR KIDS HERE) and paid about $21 for the entire adult family to be able to bowl with the kids all summer long. Shoe rental as it is...well it's easiest to buy the shoes outright.
2. A working  VCR. Now why a VCR you ask? Because there are children who love Disney and most of my Disney DVD's are stuck in a storage building three states away. Rather than buy them at $14-$22 a pop, I paid $5 for a VCR so I can pick up the VHS tapes of the older Disney movies..
3. 6 VHS tapes at .50 each. YEP! This is why I bought the VHS player. I THOUGHT I got two Little Mermaids (I wanted the covers to mail off to Ursala, see why here) but when I got home, one of the Little Mermaid tapes was actually a Harry Potter movie. I also got a Buzz Lightyear of Star Command VHS, a Toy Story VHS and a few others. All Disney.
4. The Little Mermaid book I paid .25 for and a Dixie Chicks cd I paid .50 for. I got a Christine Feehan book titled Dark Gold for .25.
5. A bag of clothes for everyone. All the kids got something and all the adults too. Majority of it looked brand new and never worn. I got a very nice dress for Lexie as well as some shorts that were desperately needed for the summer. Tristan and Eli got shorts and some tops, Reagan got pants and tops and even Tim got some tops and a few pairs of shorts. I was able to find a few shirts that might fit if I lose about 10 pounds so all in all not a bad day clothes wise. There was also a darling pair of shoes in there for Tristan. Little Nikes! They washed real well are a pinkish orange color.
6. A motorized scooter. Yep. I paid $12.50 for it. It was definitely an unexpected purchase, it even came with the charger. It sells for about $250 at Walmart and ToysRUs, but I think it may need a new battery which will cost me about $40 or so. Still not a bad deal but I wish there had been a warning.
