Book Review: Accidental Sire by Molly Harper

If you know anything about me you know I love a good Paranormal Romance. Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Wizards and so on. I read pretty much anything you give me but I definitely have my favorites and Molly Harper has been on my radar for a few years. I discovered her through her Jane Jameson trilogy and I've stuck with her as much as I could.

I was so excited to get enough digital credits from Amazon to be able to buy Accidental Sire. I had read a lot of mixed reviews claiming it was just like all her other novels and I scoffed at that because Molly always gives me something new and interesting in Half-Moon Hollow and she didn't disappoint me with Accidental Sire. I hadn't read premise like this before and it was extremely interesting. Girl Meets Boy. Girl Likes Boy. Girl Gets Killed in an Extreme Frisbee Game. Girl Becomes a Vampire. Girl Bites Boy. You can see, it's definitely not he usual vampire fare. Also Meagan and Ben are NOT normal vampires.

I loved the heroine. Meagan was sarcastic and snarky just like I like and she didn't back down. I love a strong female lead. The boy on the other hand got on my nerves a bit. He just seemed whiny as hell in the beginning but I can live with that as long as my strong female lead takes control, which she did in a spectacular way. About midway through the book Ben has a change of heart and starts acting like a man so I'm happy with that.

There is some underlying mystery which also kept me intrigued, not everyone is as they seem so once the pieces of the puzzle start coming together it creates a very interesting picture.

I did enjoy where the book took me. It was pretty interesting the situation that Meagan finds herself in. I will say that the end was a little underwhelming for me, I guess I was expecting more retaliation. lol. But it's a great book and if you like a light vampire romance this then is for you. No brooding (except of the teenage) kind found anywhere.

I paid for this book with my own money. (Well, with digital rewards from Amazon) so this book is in no way sponsored. I pride myself on being honest with my reviews whether the book was given to me or not and in this case...I just wanted to share another Molly Harper novel!

You can also join me on GoodReads! I love sharing my book posts and entering the giveaways there. Let's read together!

Review of All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 5)

I finished All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 5) by Kerrelyn Sparks on Sunday morning and wanted to get a review written up for you guys. If you haven't read any of Sparks's novels then go ahead and pick one up. This series is really very cute and not as dark as some Vampire series. I like a book with a lot of humor and this one definitely packs humor.

It starts out with Toni Davis meeting Scottish Vampire Ian MacPhie. Toni is a day guard for the Vampires. Meaning, that during the day when they are asleep she guards their passed out bodies from other humans who would do them harm. Ian, though, has a past, until a month ago he looked like a 15 year old boy, but due to some kind of potion he was able to age himself to look 27. Ian is on the hunt for the perfect Vampire woman when he meets Toni and they have an instant attraction to one another. Toni was attacked by "malcontents" (evil vampires) as was her room mate, however, Toni's room mate is now being held in an insane asylum.

Like I said the book has a lot of humor with Toni trying to prove the existence of Vampires to free her friend from the Asylum, (the Black Pages! Got to read them, it's very funny!) and then Ian's search for a woman goes global, enter every single woman trying to chase him down as he hot apparently.

The only problem I had with the book came when they rescued Toni's room mate. I didn't like her. In fact I found it hard to believe that the main character (Toni) would even be friends with someone as whiny and problematic as she was, she even made me regret the few chapters I read with her present. I saw her as more of a problem then a help to the story. I really liked the other Asylum rescue. I thought he was hysterical, it was a guy who was in the Asylum due to depression. Now if they could have given the room mate that guy's personality it would have been a hell of a lot better.

One other small problem I had is they mentioned Christmas like twice, so the story had very little to do with the title of the book, it was just a mismatch, the title had no relevance to the story. This is book 5 in the series and the series is as follows:

Love at Stake Series

Book One: How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire
Book Two: Vamps and the City
Book Two and a half: Novella "A Very Vampy Christmas" from Sugarplums and Scandal
Book Three: Be Still My Vampire Heart
Book Four: The Undead Next Door
Book Five: All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire
Book Six: Secret Life of a Vampire
Book Seven: Forbidden Nights with a Vampire

I've read a few of the series, one day I will sit down and read them all in a row (once I find them!) But I did read the first novel and it was a very good read!

I have started a new book by Lynsay Sands called Taming the Highland Bride which so far in looks like a story written from Taming of the Shrew. Anyway I will let you know how this goes.

Jane Tara's Forecast: A Review

I just finished Jane Tara's Forecast and I must say that I did enjoy it! It had some very humorous moments that made me laugh a little out loud and definitely kept me smiling.

Forecast shows us the intricacies of the weatherman business. When a popular weatherman, Drew Henderson, injures himself, there is a quick scramble to find a replacement until he is back on his feet. A producer stumbles upon Rowie Shakespeare (yes, kin to THAT Shakespeare) who happens to be psychic and can predict the weather. Rowie also has a slew of other talents that also include knowing a mans life once she kisses him. Only thing is Rowie can't see Drew's future. They quickly fall in love with each other only to wind up in one misunderstanding after another. There is also several offset romances, including Rowie's mom and grandmother, her best friends, and even her dead grandfather. Nothing is taboo in this book, and the world of Rowie is open for all. It's a pretty magical book. I do recommend for a quick read.

I picked this book up at the Dollar Tree (it was all of $1) so it's a pretty good deal for a novel that is better then some I've paid eight bucks for.

Anyway, if you run across this book (or buy it off of Amazon for .01) you won't be disappointed.

What's a Ghoul to Do? Quick Review

The quote of the day("Welcome to the gay man's one night stand!) made me smile when when I read the line in the book What's a Ghoul to Do? by Victoria Laurie, interesting book as well.

Quick review: Pretty much about a heroine who is a medium and can speak with the dead, she has a business where she is a ghost buster. The heroine, whose name is M.J and her gay business partner Giley take on a client whose grandfather is haunting his house where he supposedly committed suicide. Dr. Delicious (as they call him) is from Germany and there's a lot of skeletons in his family closet.

It was an interesting book, can't say it was one of the best I've read but it was a break from the Vampire mania that most novelists seem intent upon. (I'm not bashing the Vampires, trust me gimme a Katie Macalister or a Maryjanice Davidson any day!)

One thing I did notice was that although the story was pretty good, we never got much in the order of character developement for Dr. Delicioius other than that he was a hot dude with an awesome accent who butchers American slang. I wish we could have gotten a better feel for him in this book.

I did like M.J. she's a determined Heroine. Giley was a cool character as well.

The cover to the book is cute, however has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story, she doesn't dress like that at all. She dresses pretty normal in jeans and stuff.
