I have a few fun things to share with everyone so this post is going to be ALL over the place

1. If you have a Frozen obsessed child in your home then MUST go to the Dollar Tree. If you've read my blog in the past then you know how

crazy I am about that store. Everything you can imagine for a $1. I am SO there. Anyway, back to Frozen. My niece-in-law is obsessed so if you have one in your home go take a look. They had so much it was

unreal. Here is a small list of some of what I saw: Shampoo with little comb attached to it. Tissue in boxes, the rectangle kind as well as the little boxy kind (This would PERFECT for back to schoolers!), hand sanitizer, hand disinfectant wipes, qtip boxes rounds, gigantic pens, velvet posters that you color in, cups, stickers, foil puzzles, jump ropes, and that's just what I saw without digging around! I'm sorry I didn't get any photos. I will be back though to grab as much of it as I can. Stocking stuffers. Christmas is coming, y'all, get ready.
2. I have quite a few projects I'm working. A felt dollhouse in the works. Pictures coming soon, I PROMISE! I have some plans to make a travel racetrack out of felt. I haven't really seen any online but I have a lot ideas. I'm going to be making some felt animals for Tristan so we can work on his animal sounds. I have a little jewelry box I picked up from the dollar store and will be decorating it using things I got at the Dollar Tree.
3. I found this piece of property I fell in love with. I'm trying to gather the down payment (unless one of my esteemed readers wants to give me six grand! Haha, jk.) Amway, it's gorgeous. Located on a mountain and has woods, a house in sorely need of a head to toe makeover, and different little structures all over it. It speaks to me. If I get the property be prepared for the numerous posts about it. Lol. This is just a warning.
4. I want to learn how to can things. Next year I have plans for a huge garden and I want to can basically everything I grow. I also want to learn to can dry goods. If you have any tips and pointers, message me! Also any type of cool little recipes for a newbie canner.

Like I said this post was all over the place. But I have plans for lots of things to come. I'm currently posting via cell phone so please excuse any odd mistakes as I have sausage like fingers

Glam Wig Head - Britney Spears Style! Tutorial

Hello! I know I haven't posted for awhile I've had some serious problems getting blogger to actually POST my updates. So here's another attempt at letting you guys know what's going on. This week I'm making a diaper cake and I'll be posting a tutorial for that soon, and coming up I am planning my 4 year old cousins birthday party complete with a huge cardboard box princess castle. So photos for that will be coming soon.

I did want to post a tutorial on my GLAM BRITNEY SPEARS WIG HEAD! You read that right! lol. We were digging around in my overly packed garage and came across this wig head, my sister said trash it, but I said noo...I can make something totally awesome with this. She was beat up, dented, she's seen better days. So this is what I started out with and I can't wait for you to see what I ended with. You can buy these brand new for about $5 at wig/beauty shops.

This is what she was BEFORE I started on her. You can see all the dents and scrapes on her. I've named her Britney. lol. .Why do you ask did I choose to fashion her after Britney Spears? Purely by accident, a few weeks ago I got a great deal on two Britney Spears tickets for my sister, to the Femme Fatale tour, and my sister loves Britney. I bought the tickets at Groupon, so check them out if you are looking for something to do in your area, I get a lot of GREAT deals there.


So I chose a few lines of lyrics out of her Music, matched them up with some awesome font "Vijaya" for I'm Addicted to You, "MV Boli" for My Sexy Attitude, and "Carnivalee Freakshow" for Just like a Circus.You can find these fonts free on most free font pages. I used size 66 and I put them all in Bold. Printed them out in black and began to cut them.

I shaped them them into rounded edges and put the three lines of lyrics to the side.

I pulled out my tissue paper and went through what I had available.I had dark blue, lime green, pink and purple. I chose to use Pink and Purple, nothing says Britney Spears like hot pink! I also dug through my glues and found some Elmer's Glue and a small bottle of Triple Thick, it's a brush on glaze, you can get it at any craft store, I bought mine for $3.99 at Hobby Lobby.

 And I tore the tissue into strips, and began to layer it on Britney's head. I would put a layer of purple and then glue down a line of lyrics, then layer pink tissue on top of the lyrics. (Note: this is why I used black ink to print the lyrics, and you want to use a light colored tissue over the lyrics or you wont be able to see through it.) You see her in this picture in the process of being glued together. Took me about three days in between working and doing other day to day things. She had to dry fully before I could glaze her.

 Here she is on the right fully glazed! She is shinny and in person she is very very mod and cool, She doesn't photograph so terribly well. lol I have tons more photos and if you want to see more just let me know!




She's pretty cool if I do say so myself, she's going to my sister so she put her on her vanity and use her to hold her wigs or headbands, whatever she wants. I'm kind of fond of Britney! What do you think?

 

My Tea Party DIY Bunting

Remember yesterday I told you I was making a bunting for my Tea Party Birthday? Well I finished it! I didn't think I'd be done with this for a bit, I had originally wanted to incorporate some doilies into the look but decided against it once I started making my fabric flowers for the white flags. This is how an old ugly child's dress turned into my fabulous bunting.

I live right beside a "Goodwill by the pound". What that is is a Goodwill that has all their clothes in these huge bins and you dig around until you find something you want and you put it into your own portable bin. They only charge about $1.39 a pound. So I guess I paid about .25 for this dress. lol. It was very thick with a embroidered bib neckline and a white linen underskirt. The pattern of the fabric is kind of English roses with a lot of details. I saw it and said hmmmm well I like the pattern. Dress is ugly I'll think of something! So when I got home. I dismantled it.

So, I'm showing you the lines on the white fabric (the underskirt) because it shows up better. I used a red pencil. I cut out about 12 of them. The underskirt was big. lol.

Once  I had a significant amount of triangles from both the fabrics of the dress I had quite a pile.

I then took some of the patterned fabric scraps and begin making my fabric bows. You find a tutorial here. I made enough fabric flowers to glue on each of my white flags.

Have you ever been to Value Village? It's a second hand store much like Goodwill however the clothes are a little more expensive. HOWEVER, I found this large bag of fabric scrapes for $4.50. I mainly bought it for the large Zebra print fabric piece I saw in the bottom of the bag but I wasn't too sure what else was in there. I was very happy and surprised! There was a large piece of lace in there as well as three large pieces of fabric that I will be using as my tablecloths. So I took my flags and glued them each at the top to my large white piece of lace.

I'll try to grab a better photo later, but I did want to show you guys what it looks like! It's quite long and it will be hanging behind my Tea Table setup. How pretty did that turn out? I know the photo isn't that great but in person it is quite lovely.
