But I was planning on putting down on it in June and then trying to get moved in by October (I do have to finish it out, as this is JUST the shell.)
So through a stroke of luck, my taxes which I had given up on were finally approved and I should get them this week. What does this mean? This means I can put down on my Tiny House THIS WEEK. I should have her in about a month on the property to begin the finishing her out. Now, this is going to take some money, but luckily I start my new job tomorrow so I will have biweekly paychecks to work on her. I wish I had more money to play with out of these taxes but sadly almost every dime of it will go to putting down on the shed.
This is the Deluxe Playhouse model shed from Old Hickory Buildings. She comes with 5 windows, the 9 light front door, the little porch and a loft area. If they have a repo then I can get her pretty quickly, within a week, but if I have to have her built then I plan on making a few changes. I want to move the left side window to the right because my tiny house will but up against Reagan's home and I don't want to waste that window. I also want to add an additional 6th window to the back right side for my "bedroom". Now the inside of this thing is completely undone. I will have to do everything from plumbing to electrical to insulation and walls, but it's going to be worth it.
I had another option with another company that makes them and finishes them out for you, even putting in an AC and Heater unit, but they weren't very attractive. I didn't like the placement of the doors and I couldn't really change anything. It was way more expensive and I would have to save up for 2 months to put down on it along with my taxes as they want close to $1200 deposit whereas this one is around $500.
The monthly payment is for 60 months and it is affordable. I love the way this looks, it looks like a little home. I know some of my square footage is being taken by the porch, but I really want that little porch. I'm getting the size of 12x32. I can afford that payment easily enough and it will fit perfectly in the space we are going to be using. There is a little side yard beside Reagan's home that can't really be used for planting or anything because the previous owner planted a crap ton of bushes and trees and the roots are a network. So I'm sitting it there. I'm going to attach my porch to Reagan's wrap around so the kids can get to me if they need to and I'm super close...but separate. I'm very, very excited for this.
So what are my plans? I found some really cheap vinyl tile on Lumber Liquidators for .39 a square foot. Which makes it around $240 to do the whole place. It's waterproof so I can even use it in the kitchen. I'm going to put a wall up at the back of this for a bathroom and a bedroom. Then I will half that wall with another wall. lol. The place I am sitting is very close the well and the plumbing so I'm going to tie into the plumbing there. As for Electrical....this kind of scares me but I'm sure I can figure it out or get an electrician to come and install the breaker box. I would prefer NOT to die.
I haven't decided on heating yet. I'm considering a wood stove or a pellet stove but they also have little units that do AC and Heating...that's going to be something I'll have to decide on during the summer months. Summer is mind here, but winter is hell.
There is a chandelier I want from Home Depot. It's $84, it's going to be my one big splurge. I would LOVE to add a little stackable washer/dryer but again that would be way later down the road but I am going to plan a spot for it while I'm finishing her out. I want a simple kitchen area with a full-size fridge and a sink. I may add a stove but I'm happy with s crockpot and my microwave which also duals as an oven. (It has coils.)
I CAN do this. I had my doubts. I'm not going to lie. I've stressed so hard about this, and the taxes are a blessing because I can finally see some progress.
So excited over this!!
